ABOUT JAMIE

I didn’t learn guitar the traditional way.

There was no structured system… no rigid step-by-step process… no heavy theory.

What I had instead was curiosity, listening, and a deep pull toward the sound of the instrument.

I learned by playing.
By experimenting.
By making mistakes and figuring things out by ear.

And over time, something started to click.

Not just how to play…
but how to feel what I was playing.

Why I Teach This Way

Most guitar teaching breaks music into separate parts.

Scales in one place.
Chords in another.
Theory somewhere else.

But music doesn’t work like that.

Real playing is connected.

It’s rhythm, melody, phrasing, movement—all happening together.

That’s why so many players get stuck.

They’ve learned the pieces…
but not how to bring them together.

A Different Approach

The way I teach is based on how real musicians actually learn.

Not through memorisation…
but through sound, feel, and connection.

  • Learning by ear instead of relying on patterns
  • Moving in and out of chord shapes naturally
  • Blending rhythm and lead into one fluid style
  • Developing phrasing that feels expressive and human

This is the foundation of how I play—and how I teach.

My Background

I’ve been playing guitar for over 35 years.

Along the way, I’ve:

  • written produced and recorded albums
  • performed across Australia, Canada & the U.S
  • worked with other musicians and artists
  • Designed and facilitated creative mentoring workshops and programs

But more importantly…

I’ve spent years exploring the instrument in a way that goes beyond technique.

Understanding how to connect with it.

Who I Work With

I don’t just teach beginners.

I work with:

  • complete beginners starting from scratch
  • players who feel stuck or frustrated
  • musicians who want to move beyond theory and play more freely

If you’ve ever felt like:

“I know things… but I can’t actually play the way I want to”

Then you’re exactly who this is for.

What Matters Most

This isn’t about being perfect.

It’s not about playing fast.
Or knowing everything on the fretboard.

It’s about:

  • feel
  • timing
  • expression
  • and connection

Because that’s what people respond to when you play.

And that’s what makes guitar worth learning in the first place.
